- I may not show my emotions – but this is about the worst thing I’ve ever seen..”

..chief inspector of police squad in Virginia Tech university, U.S.A claims today.           Well - howcome he and his fellow companions didn’t make enough efforts to prevent this second incident from happening if so..? – Within 2 hrs of time the perpetrator had the free opportunity to reload and come back to carry out a massmurder, killing 33 human beings. Yet 2 hrs before that – 2 people were shot and killed instantly only a block away in a dormitary at the scene. The consequenses? The students at campus received e-mails with instructions to beware of standing in windows (..)

                                  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
- Today, we watch all kind of formal authorities back out from responsibility at times when they should stand tall and protect their citizens. Even when they fail to do so – no official regrets will be found, while we search for comfort but perhaps first and foremost we yearn for explanations, hearing them out.
Of course – many things are indeed impossible to predict. However, one can’t help but wondering about several signs before this horror taking place in Blacksburg. Alongside with this perpetrator being on mediciation treatment for depression (as well as Eric Harris at Columbine High School ) recent indications (bomb threats, strange behaviour,mental illness) as well as the two victims killed earlier the very same morning in the area of the campus – is more than enough.
Someone with leading influence on the effects of the situation, should be able to speak up and admit they could have taken action regarding the facts that were presented to them this particular morning two hours prior to the second shooting (!).
Indeed, there are several other factors contributing to a student shooting his fellow collegues inside his own school at a point blank range. For a foreigner to America, the constitutional tribute of the law, that ”permits people” * to defend themselves with guns in the U.S, may seem just as fictional and wild western-like as the american president himself. When George W. Bush held a brief speech due to this event yesterday – he never came close to what part economic interests->promoting ”liberal”politics->allowing a strong national weapon industry -will play in an event he knows will take place in a country with an extraordinary liberal view on ”every man’s right to defend himself.”    * (however – this part of the constitution is interpretable in different directions, I’ve learned).
Recently – a journalist reported of a girl (in Vetlanda, Sweden) who went through years of suffering while pleeding for help from the social services to do something about her abusive father. Instead she was left alone with him, living in a car and helping the man taking drugs. Although this man – her father, was wellknown by the police for violent behaviour as well as his drugaddiction AND a history of mental illness – the local chief and social surveyor declines any responsibility for all the precotions they were able to take but never did on behalf of the young girls life.
People are raging in this little Swedish town. I’m glad they are. And I do hope that Vetlanda – just as Blacksburg and the rest of us continues to hold authorities responsible for not having act in time – instead of having to endure with the compromising answer:
- We did’nt know..we could not possibly foresee what was going to occur in this particular time and this particular place..”
